    World Geography Empty World Geography

So we were thinking of having 10 main islands, all of them floating in consecutive orbiting rings around each other. The rings would consist of a 1 center island, it would be a giant metropolis. this is also where you have urban adventures. This is the center of the orbiting islands. Next you have a ring of three islands, that are connected by smaller islands for adventuring, but the three major islands have large cities on them, and these ones are based off of the three starting classes. The next ring has six islands in it and they are all based off of the six elements.

I still am not a fan of the floating island geography. It worked in Maple Story, but I'd much rather either have a full geographic map or themed "planets" that players go to rather than random rocks floating in the sky for the hell of it...

Planets akshully doesn't sound too bad, since Guilds are space stations anyways... hrm.

But the point is that its also suposed to make fun of other rpgs and lots of them have the floating sky rocks. also im not sure if the planets would work because then the areas around each town could almost be a game in them selves if they were entire planets. i feel that this just limits how much we should put in around the towns. and there will be other worlds, and thats when we add the expansion packs. but what does everyone else think?

ok so, if we did planets the world would look something like this: there is a sun in the middle, a small one. Coruscould is a floating space station out side of the sun. dont ask how it works it just does... its magic. then the other islands are small floating planets like moons or what ever pluto is considered now. that way it limits the size and the game can still feel epic in proportion but each place wont have to be its own game. yes there will be teleporters, but in order to activate them you have to do a quest inorder to attune your self with them. you would always be able to teleport to your guild hall, and would from a teleproter have acces to teleporting to Couruscould, or where the tavern where you started out, to the main city of your first class, and to the elemental city that you chose, once you have that choice. How does this sound?

I like how guilds are space stations. How about Coruscould is a massive, planet-sized space station? It sounds freaking epic, the smaller guilds could have a place to meet (thereby making it awesome when a guild gets large enough for their own space station).

    Nemo:
The other towns being planets doesn't have to affect their size.
Having a town and the surrounding lands be the only accessible areas on the planet is just part of the willing suspension of disbelief.

i guess. and every guild gets its own space bubble, its there guild hall and where they build there guild dungeon. and on Coruscould is where N.A.S.A is and that would be where guilds meet besides there guild halls. but we could do planets. i can work on that.

Hey Guys, another option which could be useful if the planet idea is too difficult to construct, we could use a planar or dimension system with Couruscould as the material plane/ center. On one ring out the three main areas (mage, warrior, and thief) are on closer planes, and then the last 6 are on a further outer ring. It may make level progression easier as in to get to a further ring, you need to go through one of the main areas first and then be able to branch out to another outer plane.

While that does sound like it would work just as well, it doesn't sound different at all, from a game mechanics perspective. Pretty much just an aesthetic change.
